Project Overview:
This project was about finding a good small business whose website had flaws and resolving them for a smoother experience for customers/viewers. The book store was a left-wing literature store so it would most likely appeal to those who are left/left leaning around the ages 16+. My role was to redesign the website so it was more aesthetically pleasing and easier to navigate.

Problem statement:
A problem I identified was a poorly-formatted, unaesthetic website that lacked important information. My goal was to resolve this issue and make the website easier to explore.

Research:
After researching 3 competitors, I found the May Day website had major flaws, in comparison to other book stores. They had easy to navigate websites, loaded with lots of information and images.
Below is their score on a Heuristic Analysis:
First issue: Poor design choice/lack of design Severity: 3 Heuristics violated: aesthetic and minimalist design Description: Lack of design and poor aesthetics create an unappealing website. Unflattering colors and typefaces as well as decorations, such as the star images.

When doing a User test, I found that those who viewed their website reported difficulty navigating the website in addition to confusion regarding contradictory information throughout the website. They also noted there was a lack of aesthetic design and needed strong improvement. I worked to resolve these issues by remodeling the entire website.
